Running, a hospital, and a Kindle

So I was doing pretty decent at running, until I got so sick I had to go to the hospital. At 4 in the A.M. Don’t worry I wasn’t running at the time. I really don’t think I could have driven myself, and I didn’t want to go anyway. So my mom finally decided that she wanted (or had?) to take me to the ER. From there we sat in the waiting room for a little while, then I had my first ever IV. Then I got to lay on an inclined bed with a machine squeezing me every 30 minutes or so to check my blood pressure. All I could think about was wanting to sleep, but they kept making me get out of bed to do stupid things like pee in a giant bottle. Which was mostly silly because I was dehydrated. There was no danger of filling that thing up. I know I was wore out, but my mom had it worse, since she didn’t have a bed. I was sick, but i felt worse for her having to stay there with me. Thanks mom, I wouldn’t trade you for the world. I can always count on you.
Now a week later, I’m feeling pretty awesome again. I started running before the weekend, then for a late birthday present my parents brought home a new Amazon Kindle. I pretty much haven’t ran since. But Caleb posted a blog today that has made me want to get back to it after sitting idly for a while. I’m not as comfortable as he is with posting my weight and junk though. I’ll just say that it’s been on a slow decline for a while now :) Gotta be proud of the little things.
Tomorrow my best friend gets married

It’s silly of me to be nervous about giving a toast when he’s getting married! But I can’t help it. It’s a very special occasion and I want to do all that I can to make it even better. Caleb and I go way back, and I was shocked and honored when he asked me to be his best man.
It’s hard to believe that we go back so long actually. We never really talked a whole lot, but we knew each other in middle school. That’s 6th grade. We’ve now done 4 years of college together. How long is that? 11 years? Something like that. It wasn’t until after Christina and Caleb started dating that we got to know each other. I discovered he was a fellow nerd and it was all lols from there.
It wasn’t even planned, but we had ALMOST every class together our freshman year of college. I was glad, because I was expecting to not know anyone in my first class (I’m not sure why. I didn’t go very far). But I remember walking in to my first class my first semester and feeling that bit of relief to see an old bro already in that networking class. From then I would be invited to hang out at his house on Friday nights, playing Halo at unreasonable hours. His mom sort of eventually accepted me as one of her own, and a good thing too, because I’ve been to his house many times now. She makes me feel at home.
I guess you could say I’ve grown to love them as if they were a second family. With Ronnie’s taste in comic books and video games, and Matt’s ability to produce awesome music, there is never a lack of things to talk about when I’m over there. Even Christina has warmed up to me a bit (I think?).
Caleb, I love you man. I know you and Christina will make each other happy for a long time coming. You’re good for each other and I hope that both of you will ask me if you ever need anything. Moving, painting, raking that god forsaken field where leaves gather at unnatural numbers, or whatever it may be. I got yer back.
